Slow Drips and Slow Slips

Sep-21st-2010

I’ve just been through a season where I was becoming half empty in so many areas of my life and didn’t notice until it was pretty far into the process. I know, some of you are thinking, “Zin, how did you allow it to happen?” The answer my friends, is that it was through a slow drip. Imagine a glass container with a hairline crack on it’s base. If you pick it up and examine it you notice the leak right away but if you place it on soil over night, the liquid that the container is losing, goes unnoticed and before you notice it the container is near empty.

Another way of illustrating this is through a slow slip. Obviously when you’re walking and you slip you feel it right away and in most cases the fall is so harsh that it never goes unnoticed but if you were standing still on a slippery decline and got preoccupied by something or someone. Your slow decline will be so slow that it goes unnoticed until you reach the bottom.

Both of these analogies are perfect in showing how my life has been the past three or four months. Those who know me know that I am normally a positive, optimistic, encouraging person by creation but those who are close to me, recently pointed out that I was doing and saying things that were out of character. I guess it was a few small things I said initially that gradually grew and became a weight that overtook me by pulling me down a pit of bitterness.

What a blessing it is to know that you have friends and family around you that not only know you they care enough about you to pull you aside and ask, “What’s wrong?” and it’s even more amazing when they ask if you need prayer and are willing to pray over you right away. What caused the drip or the slip is not the point, how I got refilled, renewed and pulled back up is a huge part of being around God-like people.

Do you have friends that constantly pull you down? Friends that are there only through the good times but never there for the bad? You know who I’m talking about, the person that will call you to go party or call you to ask for a favor but is never there to help you when you are in need. Those my friends are called spiritual leeches. They take and drain and never replenishes and refills. God got me out of my slump but He used willing vessels to do so.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17

Who are you sharpening in your life? Who are you influencing? Are you feeling empty are feeling as though you are slipping down the same slipper slop of life that I was on? I’m here for prayer for anyone who needs it. Just email me and I promise to take time out of my day to personally pray for your needs. God Bless you.
